Each Genius query runs a state-of-the-art AI model plus live web research on our servers — a real per-use cost. We’d rather charge for that transparently than show ads or sell data. The journal itself is never paywalled.
Dialing in a new bag by hand typically wastes five to ten shots — 90–180 g of beans, up to half a bag. Genius usually gets you there within a few shots. Open one new bag a month and the Ristretto plan is already covered.
No. There’s nothing to sign up for. Your data lives on your iPhone and syncs through your own iCloud. Genius requests are tied to a pseudonymous identifier, never to your name or email.
Yes: any machine and any grinder can be set up manually, and 170+ grinders come preconfigured with their real dial. Bluetooth scales: Acaia (recent Pearl, Lunar, Pearl S, Cinco, Pyxis) and BooKoo Themis are fully supported; Decent, DiFluid, Espressi, Eureka, Felicita, Futula, Skale, Smartchef, Timemore, Varia and WeighMyBru are in beta.
