ShotGenius Terms of Use

1. Agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and FJB SAS (“we”). ShotGenius is distributed through the Apple App Store; Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies in addition to these terms, which take precedence where they are more specific.

2. The app

ShotGenius is a free download. Installing it grants you a personal, non-transferable license to use the app on Apple devices you own or control. The shot journal and all non-AI features are free, with no time limit. The app also includes a one-time Genius Starter Kit: your first bag scan, your first recipe and its refinement, 10 Explore searches and 3 Similar searches.

3. Genius subscriptions

Ristretto, Normale and Lungo are monthly auto-renewing subscriptions purchased through your Apple Account and managed in your App Store settings. Each plan provides a monthly allowance of Genius (AI) credits set by the plan, renewed at the start of each billing period. Every plan also unlocks Style and lifts the Starter Kit’s search limits. “Extra month” packs are one-time purchases that add one additional month’s credits of your current plan, usable until consumed. Monthly credits left unused at the end of a period do not carry over; your subscription’s credits are used before your packs’ credits.

4. Explore and Similar

Their results are read from roasters’ public websites; prices, stock and shops are indicative. You buy on the roaster’s site, under its terms, to which we are not a party. No roaster pays to appear or to rank higher.

5. Fair use and availability

Genius requires an internet connection and our service being available. We may update the underlying AI models, tune features, and apply technical limits to prevent abuse. We aim for high availability but do not warrant uninterrupted service; the journal works offline regardless.

6. Not professional advice

Genius suggestions are purely informational and depend on your equipment, water and beans. Espresso involves hot water and pressure — always follow your machine manufacturer’s instructions.

7. Cancellation and refunds

Cancel anytime in your App Store subscription settings; access continues to the end of the paid period. Credits from “Extra month” packs remain usable after your subscription ends, until consumed. Refunds are handled by Apple under their policies.

8. Intellectual property

The app, its design and content are ours or our licensors’. Your coffee data is yours.

9. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are liable only for direct damages up to the amount you paid in the last 12 months, and not for indirect or consequential damages.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of France, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence. In the event of any discrepancy between the French version of these terms and a translation, the French version prevails.
